Anyway, I went to a couple of charity shops and found a couple of books.
I really do not need any more books!
I've not been having a great time lately, my mobility has really taken a nose dive and it's made me feel really quite upset. BUT, I have been crocheting like a demon since March, designing a collection of scarves, cowls, gloves, and other items which I'm hoping to get published soon! I want them ready for mid September and October so watch this space! Anyway, I went to a couple of charity shops and found a couple of books. I actually bought Zoomigurumi 3 a while ago, but look at that hedgehog! he's so cute! This is one I found the other day. It has some lovely patterns in, which I wouldn't mind having a go with. I'm a bit obsessed with cables. I use knitting patterns to work out if it can be converted to a crochet cable. I also picked up this little book. It has a couple of cute patterns and a small stitch encyclopedia, which I more than likely have already in numerous other books, but there is a pattern I think would be quite on trend at the moment! I think the tops in the last two pictures are bang on trend at the moment. I don't think they'll fit me but I should be able to adapt the patterns to do so. You know, I have about 6 different books with patterns for flowers but I had to add this one to the collection.
I really do not need any more books!

I did a little bit of charity shop shopping the other day and found a new knitting book. £1.49 from Oxfam. I also so these mittens as I was leaving the shop and it would have been rude to leave them there. These are the official Canadian winter Olympics mittens from 2010 and also brand new. They are fleece lined, which I'm hoping will help keep my hands warm in winter, especially if I need to be in the wheelchair that day. , I got to wondering if there was a Harmony Guide to Crochet stitches and went online and found it on AbeBooks £3.67, free delivery too. I wanted it to see if there were other textural stitches to do as the base to my cable patterns. There were no cable designs in there but there are some Tunisian crochet stitches. I might make a library of my cable designs and write them into a similar design book as well as writing the complete pattern ideas I have lurking in my brain. There are lots of cables in the knitting book to work from. I have already designed some items for the book, which I'm also looking to publish as separate designs online to purchase.
The other week, I did a quick look around a couple of charity shops, looking for knitting books. I didn't find any knitting books but I did find a couple of knitting and crochet patterns. I found this booklet which has vintage knitting and crochet patterns in. The knitting patterns don't look too difficult but one has inspired me to design a jumper in crochet. I have 14 burnt orange, (think fox colour), double knit and I think I can design this into a crochet raglan sleeve jumper. I like the cable design. It's different to the one I am doing in the green hoodie. I'll write a new post with the photo of the jumper I like and my crochet pattern when it has been designed and tested and ready for publishing, so watch this space!
I've also found that the vintage knitting patterns don't go up to my size. The largest size is a 40 inch bust, which is a bit too small for me, so it will be a plus size pattern too! I am also going to swatch the other crochet patterns in the book. There are a couple that are crochet, but made in a dark wool so you can't see the textures in the photos. |
