Going over the top of the hill and past the Cat and Fiddle pub, the road felt wavier than ever, like the road had shifted about and the wind was strong up there. It felt like I was being pushed to the side.
I managed to arrive safely in Buxton and park up and I walk to the shopping centre and I can see the original The Works shop is closed and empty and my heart sinks, then I go around the corner and find their craft shop is also closed and empty and I'm thinking to myself, "oh crap, now what am I am going to do?" I walk a little bit further and then I see it, a new The Works and Crafts shop combined and I breathe a little sigh of relief. I go in and the crafts are on the right hand side and books on the left. There isn't the same range of crafts or books in this shop but I find the yarn and wrestle 5 balls into my arms. I then wander around and look at the books but now the yarn is threatening to pop out of my arms and all over the floor. I manage to find a basket after knocking down part of one display. Thankfully it wasn't a breakable item. I purchase my yarn and go out, back to the road and decide to have a look in the Cancer Research UK shop where I find this vintage crochet book. I just had to have that as well and I'm looking forward to trying a couple of the patterns, techniques and stitches.
