I've recently been commissioned to make this lovely pram blanket for a little boy. It's made with 3 balls of Snug as a Bug in the blue mix I have also made this teapot cosy! it took 30 + hours of work and it all came together as I envisioned it. It is made in a chunky yarn for the cosy and top of the toadstool and the rest is made out of double knit. I even included a crochet orange tip butterfly on the top. There are also little ladybird and bee buttons and a 'made with love' charm for the door handle. The butterfly was a pattern from 100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet by Leslie Stansfield.

We have had some lovely vintage knitting patterns come into the shop and I've taken the liberty of putting some photos of them together with some yarns that we sell, that you can make the patterns with. According to Pinterest, the big trends in knitting is patterns with yokes and I've selected the best ones we have. In crochet, the big trend for 2018 is texture. The top photo are the knitting patterns with yoke patterns and the bottom photo is of two crochet patterns. I particularly like the jumper on the left. You can see my yarn choices below for each pattern below. The crochet pattern is a gorgeously textured stitch and would look fabulous in the Stylecraft Special Double Knitting yarn in either copper or mustard. Both of these colours are very strong in fashion and would give you little extra warmth during winter. The yoke knitting pattern can be made with Paintbox Simply DK in cream and black and the Vantage gold or it can be made in other colours. I like these colours in this jumper. Replace the black with a soft blue or green and the gold with soft yellow in Paintbox Simply DK for a real vintage feel. Here we have a textured knit jumper that I think would look lovely in the bold Robin double knit Here we have a vintage crochet pattern that would lovely in a soft berry colour like this Stylecraft Special DK Or in this softer pink by King Cole Pricewise DK
I have been fairly busy recently, designing and making things. One of the things I have started designing is a Christmas Wreath Crochet along. It will have a new element to make every week. If you would like to join the Crochet A-Long, please use the contact page and I'll send out the newsletter when it starts. It will start in October and it is for 8 weeks and is free to sign up for. I'll post a photo of the completed wreath when I have finished making it! |
